We are excited that the first pieces of CFI equipment for our Precision Genomics Suite have started to arrive! This includes the Chromium iX, Visium CytAssist and Xenium Analyzer. We just need to complete a couple of renovations to the room that will house the equipment and look forward to receiving training in the new year.

Mason was funded this Summer through the new studentship offered through the Excellence in Neurodevelopment and Rehabilitation Research in Child Health (ENRRICH) Theme at CHRIM. They recently interviewed her about her experiences over the last few months and posted it on their blog.

Prats received the Stem Cell Network Summer Studentship Award to support his work in the lab over the Summer. Notably, he was the only Manitoban student to receive this award!

We are excited to announce that we have received new infrastructure funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF)! This funding will be used to develop a Precision Genomics Suite at the university that will allow us to perform extensive genomic studies at the resolution of individual cells.

All three undergraduates presented at the CHRIM research rounds in August and September. It was a great way to cap off the Summer and celebrate the acheivements of our undergraduate researchers over the last few months!

Paris attended two workshops hosted by bioinformatics.ca in Toronto: RNA-seq Analysis (3 days) Single Cell RNA-seq Analysis (2 days) The pipelinese that they learned at the workshops will be implemented in their M.

Congratulations to Abdoulaye who was selected to attend the Applied Organoid Core Workshop on Generation and Applications of Neural Organoids in Toronto. He received a full travel bursary from the Stem Cell Network!

The Drögemöller, Kowalec and Wright Labs hosted our first Annual Joint Precision Genomics Retreat at FortWhyte Alive in June 2023. We already hold a joint monthly human genomics club and we used this opportunity to discuss research plans for the coming year, including the arrival of new genomics equipment.

The lab attended the Manitoba Neuroscience Network (MNN) Annual Scientific Meeting, which was held at the Leaf in Winnipeg. Since it was a local conference, the entire lab could attend, including our undergraduate students.

At the start of the Summer, we had a joint BBQ with our collaborators labs. It was great timing, as the lab had several reasons to celebrate! Congratulations to Alana Slike, for transferring to the Ph.
