New Funding: NSERC Discovery Grant
The lab was awarded an NSERC Discovery Grant entitled, Genomics of DNA repair in the brain ($152,500). The long-term objective of my research program is to understand the fundamental biology of DNA repair in the brain.

The group's first paper is published!
We’re excited to share the lab’s first paper was published in Cell Death Discovery! This study, led by graduate student Alana Slike, highlights the beneficial neurogenic role of huntingtin in modifying neurobiological traits in humans (outside of Huntington disease), pointing to roles for the gene in longevity and aging.

Galen attends Science Meets Parliament in Ottawa and the lab presents at the Canadian Association for Neuroscience 2022 Meeting
Galen was one of the CRC delegates at the Science Meets Parliament two-day event in Ottawa. He attended workshops, met with with Parliamentarians and visited Parliament Hill. After the event, he presented in the Neurosciences Seminar Series held by the Neurosciences Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and the uOttawa Brain and Mind Research Institute.

The Wright and Drögemöller labs present a Precision Medicine Workshop in South Africa 🇿🇦 as part of their Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowships
The Wright and Drögemöller labs were awarded Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowships to visit collaborators (Drs. Soraya Bardien, Nathaniel McGregor and Shahida Moosa) at Stellenbosch University for three weeks in February 2022.

We are excited to share our new collaborative paper, A systematic review and analysis of the use of polygenic scores in pharmacogenomics, which was published in Clinical Pharamcology and Therapeutics. This article iss the first to comprehensively assess the use of polygenic scores in pharmacogenomics and show the clinical relevance of these scores for drug-related clinical outcomes.
